What is your Intake Process?
We take referrals from area Pregnancy Centers, Maternity Homes, Child-welfare Agencies, Medical Providers, Homeless Shelters, Churches and Community Agencies. Self-referral is not allowed.
Referrals must be started by the Referring Agency/Provider by clicking HERE and serves as the first point of contact between Refuge Host Homes and prospective client, Mother. Refuge Host Home’s Intake Questionnaire must be completed by the Mother and verified and signed by Referring Agency who will submit it to Refuge Host Homes (either electronically or paper copy).

Mother will then be contacted and interviewed by our Director of Client Services to determine if Refuge Host Homes will serve her needs. Women desiring placement into a Host Home must demonstrate financial need through Disclosure of Financial Need statement and must qualify under one of the three eligibility requirements: Experiencing Housing Instability, Experiencing Homelessness, or Insufficient Support System to Safely Parent. If it is determined that the appropriate level of support can be provided by Refuge, the Intake Process will continue. The documents required include, but are not limited to:
-
Medical History
-
Identification Card
-
Birth Certificates of Mother and child (if mother is accompanied by a child under the age of 2)
-
Disclosure of Financial Need
-
Insurance Information
-
2 Personal References (can be phone references)
-
Host Home Agreement Statement
-
Agreement to Submission to Randomized Drug Testing
We are not an Emergency Shelter, although referrals can come from shelters. The Placement Process take 2-3 weeks. We must have time to create a match between Host Home and Mother desiring placement and Mother must be desiring long-term placement to participate in program.
We welcome women with Substance Abuse Disorders who are stable in their recovery.
